Performance Critique: September 22

Doing the “feature set of the night” for 25-30 people

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjMO-9vrSLs

0m41s Nice acknowledgment

4m42s Nice improvised line about Googling yayo

5m18s I make really weird looking air quotes with my hands

6m33s Good save

8m28s Cut “and that’s why I’m here”

Part 2

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFlfUz4euv8

2m21s Good additional improv line for when there wasn’t a huge laugh

2m50s Tighten this setup

4m15s Good response

5m01s Hit “difference” harder

6m08s Nice “I don’t know why”

6m34s Do the punch line quicker, before the audience gets to it like in this case

7m12s Always good when going into the Blade posture gets a laugh

10m42s If doing an accent, try to keep it consistent throughout the act out

11m49s Decent improvised act out, should make more fun of excitability of the audience member being depressed

12m34s Great improvised call back

13m12s Biggest response that line has gotten to date

14m34s Nice little in the moment line

Part 3

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Krbb8fIhrag

2m10s If I do the hula hoop twice, I should do it a third time

2m50s Funny improvised line, although a little mean

4m20s Missed a couple of words, the line should be “you get the Shaq one year legend’s deal”

5m02s Weak end to that part of the joke

5m28s Good improvised line about no service

6m44s Don’t have “right now” twice in the same sentence

9m34s Weird that that line has missed the last few times I’ve done it, need to rethink my delivery here

12m19s Not sure what she said there

12m53s When the response is convoluted like that, ask a second person before doing the Israel response

Part 4

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URezDJRjE48

1m08s I should do this bit more often, it’s fun

2m15s Try to crowd work transition into this next time

3m31s Cut this joke, it’s the only one that totally missed

4m44s And I brought the crowd back totally

6m37s First line should be more of a throwaway

7m14s Doesn’t make sense here as I got a decent laugh

8m02s Cut “insta play”

9m15s Weird delivery on “this is me positive”

9m46s Should’ve done the face for another second or two and tried to force a big laugh

10m21s Good ending line

Overall: Great set. This is the longest set I did and the most consistent laughs I’ve gotten. Minor fixes are needed here and there, but this was very good overall.

A backroom bar show

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQ4emj8rPfk

0m21s Playing off of what the MC said to start

1m10s Good job incorporating an improvised part of last night’s show into tonight’s material

1m44s Don’t stumble on the line

2m23s I love that line

3m40s Change the order of these two lines

5m14s I missed the “I’m Kazaam in this example” line

5m52s I gotta find a way to always make someone in the audience a Kazaam fan

6m22s Stepped on a laugh a little bit

6m30s Do the hula hoop a second time

8m10s Best response the cell phone marriage joke has gotten to date

Overall: Great set. Newer material is hitting well. Make minor adjustments per usual

Performance Critique: September 21a

A music/comedy mic with 8 people

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IFGWFj0EwU

4m19s Say “Eddie Murphy” instead for a change in words

7m21s Hit “no guy does” harder

10m53s Good job incorporating an improvised line from the previous night

11m52s Try reversing the order of “that’s why I’m here” and “credits transferred”

Overall: Mostly weak response from the light crowd but I did a good job of fighting though and not losing my delivery or enthusiasm

Closing out the 9:30 show for 8 people

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7lik_FGtA0

0m48s Great improvised line to someone else’s bit, too bad I can’t reuse it

1m58s There was a crazy audience member, but she left before I could have fun with it

4m20s Actually trying to talk about what happened two hours ago, without writing it first

6m48s Shouldn’t talk about this on stage, even if I think it’s true, won’t help anything

7m51s Decent improvised tag

9m08s Funny train of thought about why the wood chipper is a pain to use

9m28s I wonder if I can work this in as a bit, instead of a one time thing

12m23s After “all we have is each other” I should’ve gone with, “where’s that wood chipper?”

Part 2

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1yrkHaRNYM

0m30s Nice improvised call back

1m04s That’s a funny statement out of the blue

1m48s It should be “your friends” instead of “you”

3m27s Should’ve pointed how he didn’t deny them doing it the floor, that the pivoting was the false assumption in my statement

Overall: Great set. I think I improvised 10 or 12 minutes. I need to figure out how to be this relaxed and in the moment every time I’m on stage.

A music and comedy mic

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IAvlzht3EY

0m39s Try “now I understand how to apply that expression”

1m37s Say wood chipper at the start of the question

2m20s Good improvising / calling out the situation

3m40s Hard in this room, but be mindful of where the lighting is best

5m57s I can add “hold your applause”

7m45s Nice that the uncomfortable line works again

10m25s Decent double reaction, might be a smoother way to do it

Overall: Ok for a mic. Some stuff did better than others but there were some laughs most of the time.
