Another bar show in the Miami, FL area, this is me doing lots of time with a small, sometimes not listening crowd…
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeKSx1xKFU0
0m36s Pick one female audience member and whisper “I’m just not that good”
1m56s I could’ve thanked the girl for providing sound effects
3m12s Say “them” instead of “em” to make the sentence clearer
4m27s Add in “and” before “he’s delicious”
5m16s Commit to doing the hand motion more effectively
5m38s At such bar shows, I need to talk to the audience without doing material sooner than 6 minutes into a set
7m00s I need an actual response to what my mom says
7m40s It was two girls about to make out
7m56s There was an easy Yelp joke about the bar I was performing at
8m11s I didn’t realize the girl said “I love YELP” a second time, clearly she wanted me to talk about it…
9m24s I like “you have an actual living dog?”
Part 2
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skkWK-Tusio
2m37s Crouch down when doing the female voice
3m25s Pause a little longer after “I was upset too”
3m52s Change it to “You must’ve been too busy ripping the box open”
6m41s This bit sounds memorized and not conversational
9m24s It should be “creeped out” not “shocked”
9m44s I like how I address the comics during my set
Part 3
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rL6yhtyk4LM
0m43s No need for the word “young”
2m22 Add “Yale” before lab assistant
5m01s Nice sidebar commentary and rewinding of time
6m30s Try putting more emphasis on the first syllable for the artists “DA-vinci”, “MICHAEL-angelo” etc
8m38s I should’ve started yelling out random names like I promised
Part 4
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qubw5nAVPkk
0m55s I shouldn’t say the word “jokes” but say “talk” instead
1m32s First time looking at notes, more than 30 minutes in
1m52s Tighten the “swinging from the chandeliers” line
4m41s This joke might need to be cut
5m13s Try it to “the most applause he’s gotten since his not guilty verdict”
6m39s Say “when he’s twelve” instead of “at age twelve”
7m38s I’m cutting this Citi bank joke
Overall: I did 38 minutes, and didn’t check my set list for the first 31 minutes. That’s an accomplishment right there. I lost a lot of the crowd after the first joke because I insisted on plowing through my material instead of interacting with them when they said something the first few times. (I eventually gave in, but some people were already tuned out by then.) Basically, bar shows you need to be more interactive with the audience as they have an even shorter attention span.
