A Monday Night

0m12s I’m in glasses because my eyes got messed up from sleeping in contacts
0m25s Apparently having glasses on gets a bigger laugh for the model line
3m22s Nice coy tone for “is that too far?”
3m46s Get rid of the “help me please” line
3m58s Pause for longer after “tell joke to drunks”
4m09s Slow down when saying “We not float in boat for you fail math”
5m24s Be more definite, instead of “you might know the slogan” say “I think you know the slogan”
6m24s Big shout out to the MC for blocking the camera
Overall: For a Monday night in this room, I did really well. I hope it’s because I’m getting better and more consistent and not because my glasses make me funny and pathetic looking and get the audience on my side quicker. Also, I need to make more definite statements about the audience during the morning after pill joke.
Have you considered adjusting the part about your Mom and the “they’re not all drunk…some are on coke” line to something like “they’re not all drunk…(addressing the audience) some of you are on coke”
Could be a way to get them involved, and I bet there’s a lot of potential in cracking jokes about certain audience members being drugged up. Just a thought.
Hi Sam,
Good suggestion. I actually did try a variation a few times where it went.
“They’re not all drunk, some of them are coked out” and then I followed it with “whoever of you laughs loudest at that, has done the most coke” but it didn’t seem to get as strong of a response. I think this might be due to the fact that the audience already realizes I’m talking about them too (being as how they’re currently most likely drunk).
Your instincts about calling out the audience as drugged out are good. I have a different joke that starts with, “You guys look like you love to smoke the drugs” that tends to get a good laugh.
