Me MCing a Queens Bar Show for six people who are sometimes paying attention

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNqx6dwuOO0

3m20s I should’ve asked the guy in sunglasses some questions, instead of just commenting

5m53s Make more jokes about the phone ringing

7m24s There’s a couple on a date, and they don’t realize the background noise, this is the funniest thing of the night

7m54s I should’ve kept doing the fake conversation

Part 2

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZfFNlYHqyU

1m40s I should slow down my delivery, even if it’s getting loud

3m15s The comic ended his set in his underwear, that got someone to listen at least

4m13s I really need to try this joke with a crowd of predominantly women, I think it’ll kill

Part 3 – This is other stuff in between comics

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkTk5m9E94A

1m28s I really should host my own talk show

2m23s Not a bad idea for a talk show: Start marital spouts by accident

3m38s At least someone is listening now

3m56s I should’ve “yes and-ed” the guys statement instead of just agreeing with it

6m16s The rule of “23” at work (if you say something enough times, it becomes funny again)

6m49s It’s always fun to misinterpret what someone says

Overall: This was 25 minutes of stage time. I addressed the crowd at times and did my jokes at other times. It’s tough to do comedy when people are half listening at best, but it makes you tougher. The mystery science theatre 3000 of commenting about people who aren’t listening was pretty entertaining.

The Sunday writer’s mic

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfgomgaLE5I

1m29s This was funnier when I did it in an improv monologue

2m11s This needs a rewrite

3m11s Grammar jokes are not my friend

Overall: The first minute was jokes I’d been working on and they worked, the next three and a half minutes were half baked jokes, and none of them will be kept in their current form.

Opening the Saturday night show

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Jtp1HBlXlc

0m18s If I’m the first comic, I should have the audience clap it up for the MC, they’re not tired of clapping yet

1m02s Go back to saying “it’s like” before doing the announcer voice, it makes things clearer

3m16s This part of the joke works best when only one or two people laugh, which is how it worked out here

4m14s I could’ve done the hand motion a few more times, until it got funny because it made no sense

4m41s No need to say that, even if it’s true

6m18s When jokes don’t work, I resort to flirting with audience members

Overall: I ended strong and get a few strong laughs, but a lot of jokes missed. When I open, I need to start with getting the audience to clap for the MC. I should also avoid making a joke about the audience’s age if it’s not going well. If I’m gonna acknowledge that it’s an older crowd, I say something like, “this is awesome, I feel like I’m speaking at my parent’s anniversary party” or something that’s more light hearted.

Friday night show, about 15 people in the crowd

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKbtywtf0Vo

1m18s I noticed a whole table just talking to each other, so I had to try to get them back

4m33s I usually pick a guy, but only a girl laughed at it

5m19s Make a better shaving motion

5m22s Add a “oh relax,” before “the crabs are fresh”

Overall: Decent set but nothing special. I eventually got the distracted table to pay attention, but to do I had to abandon my previously planned jokes… maybe I shouldn’t plan jokes too far in advance.

Me hosting the writers mic

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjhYQYJpJGk

0m27s Slow down the hand motions and pause longer between them

1m45s The shoe joke worked better with this premise

3m33s I should have the word “morning after” during one of the last two times I say “pill”

4m06s No need for “just proving a point”, just make a big face like “what the hell?” and hold it while waiting for the crowd to catch up

Overall: My newer jokes are progressing but still need more work
