On January 1st, 2015 I posted my goals for this year. Since it’s the last day of the year, it’s time to go through them and see how I did. Black text is the original goal and bold text is how I did.
Performing ( 4.4 out of 7 accomplished)
– Perform in 350 comedy club shows, 150 bar shows and 200 open mics. Emcee 100 of those 700 spots
Did 290 comedy clubs shows, 258 bar (or non-full-time-comedy club venue) shows, 149 open mics, emceed 90 of those times – So I did 697 out of 700 planned spots, but with a slightly wrong distribution – counting this as 90% accomplished
– Do 20 or more sets of 30+ minutes
Did 19 long sets – rounding up to count this as accomplished
– Become a regular at one new NYC club (where I perform at least once a week)
Started performing regularly in two NYC clubs where I wasn’t before
– Get 7 industry opportunities (TV stand up audition, filmed as talking head, get an agent and/or manager, writing submission, magazine coverage, etc.)
Got a college agent, a new acting agent, a lot of press for my book and went on a lot of auditions. Completed.
– Submit for 9 festivals, perform in 3 festivals
Submitted to 3 regular comedy festivals and performed in 1. Also submitted to 7 NACA conferences, still waiting to hear back on some – 50% accomplished
– Do a stand-up set on TV

– Get my two person specialty show booked 15 times

Writing (3 out of 4 goals accomplished)
– Write for at least 15 minutes a day for 330 days in the year
Did not do write 38 days this year aka wrote 327 days. Counting this as close enough.
– Create 30 new minutes of usable material. Turn 10 of those 30 minutes into “A” material
Definitely tried 30 new minutes of material this year – ten of those minutes are on the way to turning into “A” jokes
– Write one new TV or Film script
Wrote and filmed a reality TV idea. Wrote another series of sketches around one topic – 50% accomplished
– Get paid to write for others on a consistent basis
Got paid to write on one project – 50% accomplished

– Take one class

Web Content (3.5 out of 5 accomplished)
– Have Russian Optimism mentioned in 18 articles, at least 3 of which are on well known sites

– Create (at least two of three: write, direct and edit) 6 new comedy videos and post them online
Created 3 new comedy videos: The Diceman Cometh 2015 and Shocking Footage of The NFL’s Domestic Abuse Policy (third one still in post production) – 50% accomplished
– Tweet one joke a day at least 25 days per month
I tweeted a lot of jokes this year – I can’t figure out a way to count them without losing my mind by scrolling back, but gonna count this as done.
– Get 500 new email addresses from shows or my website
Got over 500 new emails addresses – mainly from the Solas Laughs show
– Create at least thirty episodes (45-90 seconds each) of my reddit idea
