2014 Comedy Goals Revisited

On January 1st, 2014 I posted my goals for this year. Since it’s the last day of the year, it’s time to go through them and see how I did. Black text is the original goal and bold text is how I did. 
   

Performing (5.75 out of 6 goals accomplished):
– Perform in 450 comedy club shows, 100 bar shows and 100 open mics. And Emcee 100 of those spots.
I was on stage 628 times this year:  285 comedy club shows, 158 bars shows (89 of these in separate, almost club like rooms) and 182 open mics. Emceed 63 times (49 shows, 14 mics) – 75% accomplished
– Do 30 road gigs
Did 34 road gigs
– Do 5 or more sets of 30+ minutes
Did 13 sets of 30+ minutes
– Become a regular at one new NYC club (where I perform at least once a week)
Started performing at one new NYC club on a regular basis
– Get 5 industry opportunities (TV stand up audition, filmed as talking head, get an agent and/or manager, writing submission, etc.)
Had 7: two writing packets, two acting auditions, had TimeOut NY Joke of the Week, filmed something for National Geographic and FOX’s Laughs
– Submit to 6 festivals, get accepted to 3
Submitted to 7 festivals. Got accepted to 3, went to 1. (2 submissions will not be announced until after the New Year)

   

Writing (1.75 out of 3 goal accomplished):
– Write for at least 30 minutes a day for 300 days in the year
I wrote 340 days, but most days were closer to 15-20 minutes than 30 minutes – 75% accomplished
– Create 20 new minutes of usable material. Turn 5 of those 20 minutes into  “A” material.
Created more than twenty minutes of useable material, and at least five I’d consider “A”
– Write one new TV or Film script
Did not write one new TV or Film script, did write a late night submission packet though

   

Learning (0 out of 1 goals accomplished):
– Take one class
Did not take any classes

   

Web Content (1 goal and two half goals of three goals accomplished):
– Continue putting out the weekly podcast, get 10,000 downloads on the year
Continued putting out The Passive Aggressive Podcast every week. Had over 9,000 downloads for the year.
– Sell and publish my book idea (traditional or kick starter)
My book was published and is available here
– Put out my new web series and get at least one episode to 100,000 views
I put out 16 episodes of The Black Jew Jew Review, did not get any episode past 5,000 views.

   

Financials (0 out of 1 goal accomplished):
– Earn $25,000 from entertainment business related income
Did not earn $25,000 from entertainment related income

   

Top 6 Goals (from the above) – 2 Goals accomplished, 2 Goals 75% accomplished, 2 Goals 50% accomplished – 4.5 out of 6 cumulative score
